Specialty & Scale
Since its founding in 2010, O’Brien-Staley Partners has emerged as a partner of choice for banks and bank holding companies (BHCs). The firm has made over 80 minority equity investments in privately-held banks or BHCs and participated in over 20 senior or subordinated loans to BHCs.
Most O’Brien-Staley Partners investments are between $5 million and $20 million, but the firm will seriously consider either larger or smaller transactions with well-regarded counterparties, in favorable geographies.
O’Brien-Staley Partners has been a reliable counterparty for banks and BHCs wanting to divest “unloved” credit exposures including discontinued business lines, troubled debt restructurings (TDRs) and nonperforming C&I or CRE loans. The firm has a particular knack for credits that are too complex or sensitive for traditional loan buyers, such as
- Bank Stock Loans
- Church or Nonprofit Loans
- Campus Housing Credits
- Rolling Stock or Equipment Leases
- FDIC Loss-Share Termination
- NMTC Tax Credit Termination
- Aviation or Marine Credits
- Spanish Language Credits
